Alien

The project includes the redesign of the Alien perfume from the French brand Mugler, which was first launched on the market in 2005. The redesign doesn’t rely on the old concept but respects the original philosophy of the Mugler universe as an experimental laboratory, where individuality, diversity, and creativity are nurtured, and the boundaries of space and time are erased, in order to maintain an avant-garde approach in creations.

Alien perfume is the embodiment of a solar goddess, radiant and sensual. This fragrance spreads peace and magic and is also able to detect light and creative power. The scent of jasmine combined with woody and amber notes leads through the mystery of the creation of beings. For the birth of this mystery, i.e. life, a star like Vega, the brightest in the constellation Lyra, is necessary. Its absolute magnitude is 0.6 and it is 52 times more luminous than the Sun. Is it possible that Vega supports some form of life? The newly redesigned version of the Alien perfume will take you on the path of discovery.

The design concept is based on an interactive approach. By combining sensory abilities, i.e. the senses of sight, hearing, and smell, we arrive at a unique Alien or a personal microcosm. This suggests the uniqueness of the experience, but also the uniqueness of the smell, which is variable in its interaction with human skin.

On the box, there is a photo (daguerreotype) of the star Vega. It was recorded in 1850 at Harvard. In addition, the astrometric characteristics (mass, position, magnitude, etc.) of the star Vega are listed. This may be the information needed to find the Alien.

The QR code leads to the ambient track “Intermission Vega”, which is based on a combination of a human heartbeat and the sound of a pulsating star. This track was chosen as a free artistic approach to the concept, not on a scientific basis. Vega also became famous in pop culture through the 1997 film Contact, which was based on a story by Carl Sagan. In the movie, it represents the point from which foreign, or extraterrestrial signals seemed to come to our planet.
